EXCEPTIONAL BLOODLINE
Saketini has a classy Kentucky pedigree rarely offered to sport horse breeders. The Bernardini - AP Indy line is well-proven for sport, consistently producing uphill type, dressage movement, jumping talent, and wonderful minds. Saketini continues this stamp in his offspring, evident by their early success in the Future Event Horse program and Young Event Horse competitions where his full-Thoroughbred colts have defeated other purpose-bred warmbloods.
Just as important, Saketini comes from an elite female family. At the time of Saketini's conception, Bernardini stood for an impressive $100,000 and received only the best mares in his book. Saketini's damline is full of "black type" stakes horses; his half-sister, Real Cozzy by Cozzene, was a G2 winner and placed second in the Kentucky Oaks, and he has other half-sisters who are stakes producers. Saketini's second dam, Really Blue, is the dam of Real Quiet-- the 1998 Derby and Preakness winner who missed the triple crown by a nose. (Real Quiet, by Quiet American...who is Bernardini's damsire). Fourth dam Gay Hostess is the dam of legacy sire Majestic Prince. Clearly an enormous amount of athletic success is concentrated in this female line, and makes Saketini stand far above other Thoroughbred stallions available to sport horse mares.
EXCEPTIONAL CONFORMATION
Standing 16.2 with 9" bone, Saketini is a solid individual with an ideal TB frame. He has the classic Bernardini type: uphill neck and shoulder with beautiful shape, a moderate length of back, a strong loin and hip with great angles. He has a beautiful head, with a large, soft eye that accurately reflects his kindness and honest temperament. Saketini has excellent feet with strong walls, good heels, and depth of sole. He has been a sound, dependable horse through nearly 5 years of competing at Preliminary level.
His conformation and type is reliably passed on to his foals, particularly his big shoulder and uphill front end. He has successfully lightened WB and Irish mares, improving their gallop while retaining the elasticity and suspension in other gaits. Best of all, his offspring are easy to start under saddle and have his amazing brain.
